About Barbara Biggs
|
A brief history: Barbara Biggs worked as a journalist for a decade before resigning to write about her extraordinary early life. The resulting story was called "In Moral Danger": At 14 her grandmother sold her to a paedophile barrister. At 16 she was in a psychiatric hospital. At 18 she escaped Cambodia as it fell to the Khmer Rouge. At 19 she was a prostitute in Japan. At 21 she received death threats and caused national headlines. Her story continued with "The Road Home" : At 23 she becomes a mother. At 27 a classical pianist. At 30 a journalist. At 40 she becomes a property millionaire and finally confronts the man who almost destroyed her. And wins. Her third book is "The Accidental Renovator" , which tells the story of how she bought and renovated an apartment in Paris and the excentric people she met there.
She donated up to two-thirds of her royalties of her fourth book, "ChatRoom" , to a child protection charity.
Barbara now campaigns to raise awareness and stop child sexual abuse and campaigns to spread a successful treatment model for perpetrators and their families.
